Practice exercise:
- Open OriginalImage1.jpg and use it to practice the method demonstrated in the video lesson.
- Now that you know how to fix over- and under-exposed photographs, you can practice this technique on your own images that need adjustment. Always keep a backup copy of all your original images on CD for safekeeping.
- A word of caution anytime you save a jpeg you lose some quality. JPGS are considered a 'lossy' file format because of the way it compresses an image - your image degenerates every time you save. If you plan to do a lot of work on an image save the file as a Photoshop .psd file until you are ready to print the file and you have made the final adjustments to the image, then save as a .jpg file.
In the next lesson we will learn how to fix over- and under-exposed photographs using the 'exposure dialog box'.
