Lesson 9 - Fixing under- or over-exposed photographs using the Exposure dialog box.

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to demonstrate how to correct an under- or over- exposed photograph by using the dedicated 'exposure control dialog box'. Adjusting the exposure slider within this dialog box opens up some of the midtones, adjusting the offset slider increases the shadow areas and adjusting the gamma correction affects the midtones and some highlights.

Requirements:
  • Watch the video tutorial shown on the next page.
  • Open 'OriginalImage1.jpg' and use it to practise the method shown.
Note: OriginalImage1.jpg can be downloaded in 'Photography Preparation - Lesson 1'.
  • Save your file when all adjustments have been made but give it a new name so that 'OriginalImage1.jpg' can be used for all subsequent lessons. Select 'File > Save As' and call it 'Lesson 9.jpg'.
